Frequently Asked Questions About SUPER Avatar Academy
Choosing the right environment for your child's emotional development is a big decision.
Here are answers to some of the questions parents most often have about SUPER Avatar Academy, our EQ & Mental Fitness approach, suitability, parent involvement and the Positive Hero growth journey.
What is SUPER Avatar Academy?
SUPER Avatar Academy is an EQ and Mental Fitness enrichment academy for children in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
Instead of teaching emotional intelligence through lectures, we use interactive stories, games, group experiences, reflection and coaching to help children practise skills such as emotional regulation, confidence, resilience, empathy, communication and growth mindset.
Our goal is to help children develop inner skills they can gradually apply at home, at school and in everyday life.
What age group is SUPER Avatar suitable for?
Our core children's programs are designed around different developmental stages so children can learn emotional skills in age-appropriate ways.
Our Positive Hero journey currently serves children from approximately 5–11 years old, with different learning focuses as children progress.
If you're unsure whether your child's age is suitable for a particular workshop or class, speak with our team before booking and we'll recommend the most appropriate option.
What kind of children can benefit from EQ and Mental Fitness training?
SUPER Avatar may be helpful for children who would benefit from developing areas such as:
- emotional awareness and self-regulation
- confidence and self-expression
- resilience when facing mistakes or failure
- willingness to try unfamiliar things
- communication and social interaction
- teamwork and empathy
- problem-solving during difficult situations
- a healthier growth mindset
A child does not need to have a "problem" to learn EQ.
Just like children practise academic, sporting or musical skills, emotional and mental fitness skills can also be developed through consistent practice.
My child is very shy. Is SUPER Avatar suitable?
Potentially, yes.
We regularly work on skills such as self-expression, confidence, communication, teamwork and willingness to participate.
However, we don't expect a shy child to suddenly become outspoken.
Our goal is to create opportunities for children to participate, express themselves and build confidence progressively while respecting their individual personalities.
If your child experiences particularly intense anxiety or has difficulty participating in group environments, speak with our team first so we can better understand their needs.
My child has frequent tantrums or big emotional reactions. Can the program help?
Emotional regulation is one of the areas children practise within our EQ and Mental Fitness journey.
Children learn to better recognise emotions, understand what may be happening internally and practise more constructive ways of responding.
However, every child and every situation is different.
If emotional or behavioural challenges are severe, persistent or affecting your child's safety or daily functioning, we encourage parents to seek appropriate professional advice alongside any enrichment program.
Is SUPER Avatar suitable for neurodivergent children, including children with ADHD or autism?
Neurodivergence by itself does not automatically determine whether a child is suitable or unsuitable for SUPER Avatar.
Because our program is delivered in an interactive group environment, suitability depends on the individual child's communication style, sensory needs, emotional needs, ability to participate in group activities and the level of support they require.
SUPER Avatar is an EQ enrichment and coaching program not a clinical therapy or diagnostic service.
We therefore recommend speaking with our team before registering. Tell us a little about your child's strengths, challenges and current support needs, and we can discuss whether the current class environment is likely to be a suitable fit.
If another type of professional support would be more appropriate, we believe it's important for parents to know that too.
Does SUPER Avatar diagnose ADHD, autism, anxiety or other developmental or mental-health conditions?
No.
SUPER Avatar is an enrichment and coaching academy and does not replace diagnosis, psychological treatment, occupational therapy, speech therapy or other clinical services.
Our focus is helping children practise emotional intelligence, mental fitness, communication, resilience and related life skills.
If you are concerned that your child may require an assessment or clinical intervention, we recommend discussing your concerns with an appropriately qualified healthcare or developmental professional.
How do you support parents?
We believe children's emotional development works best when parents are part of the journey.
Parents may receive practical guidance, coaching, learning resources, masterclasses or home activities that help connect what children are learning in class with what happens in everyday family life.
We help parents better understand topics such as:
- what may be underneath a child's behaviour
- communicating during emotional moments
- reinforcing the emotional language children learn
- encouraging resilience and independence
- responding to mistakes and setbacks
- creating stronger parent-child connection
The goal is not to create "perfect parents."
It is to give parents a clearer and more consistent way to support the skills their child is developing.
Do parents need to attend every weekly class?
Children participate directly in their learning sessions, while parent support happens through the wider SUPER Avatar parent ecosystem rather than requiring parents to sit through every children's class.
Our team will explain the parent involvement relevant to your child's program when you enrol.
How is SUPER Avatar different from a normal enrichment class?
Most enrichment classes focus primarily on what a child can do.
SUPER Avatar places strong emphasis on how a child learns to respond internally when life becomes difficult.
For example:
- When something is hard, do I immediately give up—or can I try another way?
- When I'm angry, do I explode—or can I recognise what I'm feeling and communicate?
- When I'm afraid of being judged, do I stay silent—or can I gradually find the courage to express myself?
- When I make a mistake, does it define me—or can I learn and continue?
We use stories, games, coaching, reflection and real-life application to turn these ideas into experiences children can practise.
How big are the classes?
Our weekly program is designed around small-group interaction, with classes capped at approximately 11 children.
The small-group environment allows children to practise communication, teamwork and social-emotional skills with other children while still receiving guidance from coaches.
Why is EQ a long-term program?
Because emotional intelligence is not simply knowledge.
A child may understand what they should do when calm but react completely differently when frustrated, embarrassed, disappointed or angry.
Lasting growth comes from repeatedly practising emotional skills across different situations and developmental stages.
That is why our Positive Hero Program is structured as a progressive long-term journey rather than a one-off motivational workshop.
The program has a 5-year roadmap. Does my child need five years before I see any change?
No—the 5-year structure describes the developmental journey, not a promise that children must wait five years before making progress.
Every child develops differently.
You may first notice smaller changes: your child recognising an emotion, using new language, pausing before reacting, trying again, speaking up or approaching a situation differently.
More deeply established habits such as resilience, emotional regulation and confidence require repeated practice across different situations.
Rather than promising a fixed number of weeks or months, we believe it is more responsible to look at your child's individual progress over time.
How quickly will I see results?
There is no responsible one-size-fits-all timeline.
Children differ in temperament, age, environment, current challenges, readiness to practise and the consistency of support they receive outside class.
We therefore focus on observable progress rather than instant transformation.
Parents can look for changes such as greater emotional vocabulary, increased self-awareness, more willingness to communicate, trying again after setbacks and gradually applying strategies learnt during class.
Our team can also help parents understand what areas to observe and reinforce at home.
Will one trial workshop change my child's behaviour?
A trial workshop is best viewed as a starting point, not a quick fix.
It allows your child to experience the SUPER Avatar learning approach and gives parents an opportunity to better understand their child's current emotional-growth needs.
Longer-term habits are built through repeated practice and real-life application.
What happens during a SUPER Avatar class?
Rather than traditional classroom lectures, sessions are designed to be interactive.
Children learn through a structured combination of experiences such as:
Recap → Introduction → Story → Game → Debrief & Coaching → Real-Life Application
The experience gives children opportunities to think, feel, participate and reflect rather than simply being told what the "correct" behaviour should be.
